Benefits Of Soy Products For Hot Flashes

By Sharon Pedigo

In our modern world where it seems drugs are prescribed for just about any condition, it is refreshing to know that we do have options outside of drugs. Women who are going through menopause often cannot take what is available to them such as Hormone Replacement Therapy, a drug prescribed by many doctors for women to control their symptoms. There is a natural alternative to this drug and that is with the use of soy nuts for hot flashes.

In the past women had no other alternative but hormone replacement therapy to control the symptoms of menopause. Now with current research into more natural alternatives they have a choice that is far less dangerous and even healthier for the body. Enter the soy bean.

This versatile food has been studied the most in hopes that it can help women going through menopause. Universities and research labs have conducted studies into the effectiveness of soy in helping to control hot flashes and perhaps even giving some relief from this symptom alone. The findings of these studies have shown vast improvement in the intensity and frequency of hot flashes and reducing them by at least 50% using soy products.

Not only is this food source more readily available than it has been in the past, it is now used in many food and beverages as well as in pill form. Since soy is an acquired taste, many have found the soy pill to be of benefit to them if they don't like the taste of the food source. Many women have found relief in this way rather than taking hormone replacement therapy and increasing their risk of heart disease and stroke or blood clots.

Soy provides many nutrients that are good for the body and it is a less expensive alternative to prescription medications. For women who want to deal with their menopause symptoms naturally, this is the way to go. Research has found that soy products reduces hot flashes by at least fifty percent which is better than average for a natural supplement.

Soy comes in pill form for those who just cannot get past the taste of the food source. These supplements have the same benefits as eating the food source but without having to actually taste it. It is always best to consult with your doctor about any supplements that you plan on taking. They can advise you in regards to your health and whether the supplement will be of benefit to you.

While supplementing with soy will not completely take away the symptoms of menopause it can be used to greatly control them so that you are able to enjoy better sleep and improved moods. You should always consult with your doctor before you begin any changes in diet or using any supplements. They will be better able to advise you on the risks and benefits of using supplements.

Living with menopause can be difficult for some and easy for others. It depends on your body and health. This natural change may make things a bit more challenging but know that there are ways to help you through it along with a good support system.
