Guidelines For Planning Baja Winery Tours

By Andrew Evans

Going for a winery tour is quite exciting to those who are planning this for the first time. You should consider some aspects to make such a trip exciting. You need to start making your plans early enough to ensure that everything goes as planned. Here are guidelines for planning Baja winery tours to think through.

Conduct thorough research. You must acquaint with relevant aspects about your favorite places to ensure a remarkable experience. Determine whether the wineries you will visit are either new or old. Mixing both types provides varied experiences. Apart from that, you need to acquaint with particulars of the respective places such as their hour of operation, entrance fees and rules and regulations during the excursion.

Consider the time of the year. You need to be careful with the duration of the year that you decide to visit since it can affect your experience. The summer and spring seasons are the busiest periods while spring and winter season are off-peak seasons. Those who intend to visit the wineries during the peak season should plan the excursion early enough. The off-peak period offers an excellent chance for someone who wants a personal experience.

Set the budget. Planning a budget helps in saving your expenses. Your budget should consider aspects such as the fuel cost, entrance fees and costs used to purchase different goods. Going for a trip as a group will help you save your expenses since everyone can contribute to the trip. Besides that, it makes everything if you intend to go together with your friends.

Make plans for the whole day. You need a solid plan to follow through during your trip. Start by deciding where to make your trips during the way. You should also set adequate time for shopping in the wineries. Do not visit more than two wineries every day if you plan to visit multiple destinations. Such decision provides an opportunity to enjoy a particular place to the fullest.

Hire a designated driver. You should have a designated driver to ensure that you get to your hotels safely after wine tasting sessions. Most places do not accept driving even with the lowest alcohol content. You can end up incurring heavy fines if you do not consider this aspect. Hire a driver with enough driving experience and has reasonable payment procedures as well.

Know what to wear and carry along. Casual wear is acceptable in a winery excursion. Think of wearing jeans or shorts, a nice shirt or any other comfortable casual wear. You should also consider things to carry along to the tour. Bring extra cash with you to purchase wines and for the tasting fee. You can also carry empty boxes to carry the wines that you will buy.

Learn how to taste wine. There is a specific process used to taste wine. It starts with holding a glass by the stem holding it above your head and acknowledging its color. You are then expected to smell the wine, sip it and swish it. Take a few seconds to feel its taste before you swallow it. Take this opportunity to acknowledge spices such as plums, chocolates, blackberries and raspberries.
